Theatre & Musical Theatre Classes cover a lot and work for those new to performance and the seasoned student! We work on story and character creation as well as singing and dancing. Students can expect to learn 2-3 full routines per semester in addition to scripted scenes. No experience necessary, but a willingness to sing in a group is a must! New students welcome!

Theatre Productions
Calling all singers, dancers & actors! This is an immersive experience where students get to be on stage, in costume, with props and a set (that they can help create!). Students will be required to work at home independently to memorize lines, rehearse songs and review choreography. Past productions include, Disney’s Little Mermaid, Alice in Wonderland, Seussical, and The Journey of the Noble Gnarble, Mean Girls, An Act of Piracy, Into the Woods Jr, and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
Students can register now and up to the start date. Late registrations may be considered if space allows.
Welcome to the Maritime Theatre School!
Theatre classes are a great way to build important life skills while engaging in creative play. All classes feature theatre games, storytelling, and musical theatre elements to provide students with the building blocks of theatre while encouraging active listening and participation, exploration of emotional vocabulary, as well as teamwork and leadership skills.
Classes are taught in the “Diane Merlin Theatre,” our large theatre room at our Bedford location, where students will get the opportunity to be on stage from the very first class!
Maritime Theatre School offers Theatre and Musical Theatre classes for students in grade one and up, which run September through June and welcome new students throughout the year, as long as space allows. Additionally, we offer Productions which are semester based, for students who are in grade 4 and up. While all students registered will have a place in the show, we will have auditions for casting, work on dialogue, stage presence, sets, costumes, props and more. We encourage Production students to also take a weekly class, although it is not required.
Registration
Registration is via email or in person, forms can be found on our Registration page. Students must re-register annually. There is a once-annual registration fee of $30+tax per student (or $40+tax per family)
Tuition and Costs – weekly classes
Classes run September to June, tuition fees are paid 10 weeks at a time. There are typically three 10 week payments, and one final payment adjusted to the number of weeks remaining in the year (usually 9-10 weeks). If a student enrolls partway through the year, we will prorate the tuition to their start date.
1 hour class = $13.95+tax per week – billed in ten week installments
1.25 hour class = $17.44+tax per week – billed in ten week installments
1.5 hour class = $20.93+tax per week – billed in ten week installments
Payment Information
All tuition payments are made in installments throughout the year, every 10 weeks. You may provide us with your credit card number and we will automatically process the appropriate amount on these dates. If you choose to pay fees using automatic payment, it is your responsibility to provide Maritime Dance Academy with updated credit card information. There is a weekly $10.00 + tax late charge for late payments after the 1st week and each additional week not paid. The registration fee is non-refundable once your student is registered for the class.

Theatre Faculty
Jocelyn LeBlanc – Theatre, Musical Theatre, Piano, Voice
For Jocelyn, the theatre bug bit at a very young age! It all started with school productions in grade 2 and moved to summers with Live Bait Theatre’s young company. She then embraced it wholeheartedly and obtained a BFA Theatre (Honours) from York University and grade 9 RCM in piano. Jocelyn is also an award winning filmmaker with over a dozen credits to her name. She continues to perform locally and participated in the 2017 Halifax Fringe Festival. More than anything, Jocelyn hopes to ignite imaginations and help each student walk away with a love and appreciation for performing.
