Allow us to tell you about the Maritime Dance Academy. We have been in business for the past 18 years and hold classes in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Modern and Hip Hop.

We start children dancing at the age of 3 with ballet, jazz & tap. We feel it is very important for children to be well rounded in dance. Therefore, we start the 3 and 4 year olds off early with all three styles in a 50 minute class. This exposes the children to all styles of music and dance:

Ballet - Classical for 20 minutes
Jazz - Barney, Disney etc. for 15 minutes
Tap - Broadway for 15 minutes

The 5 year olds dance for an hour in the same type of enviornment. By the time a child is 8 years old they know what style they like best and we know what style they are best suited. The child can then branch into one or more disciplines. Whether the student studies one style or all three it's the same price for a 1 hour class. $8.95 weekly paid in 10-week sessions. Our students study from September until June and dance on stage at the Rebecca Cohn to end the season.



Whether a child has two left feet or is extremely talented, we all dance for the love of dance and we all close the season at the Rebecca Cohn, Dalhousie Arts Center. We also have a very extensive Intensive Training Program. A student would audition for this program and be placed in appropriate classes. Our school has over 800 dancers and we are very proud of each of their accomplishments. We have a total of 26 teachers.
